Dorms & Residential Life
We are here at Congreve Residence Hall. Wildcats live on campus for 2+ years and during that time they build supportive community and form lifelong friendships. UNH has somewhere for everyone to call home, including close-knit residential communities and themed housing where students bond over shared interests or academic programs. Residence halls range in layouts and personalities. They all include communal lounges and kitchens, so there's always somewhere to hang out, cook a favorite meal, or get help with homework. Full-time staff and peer resident assistants ensure residents always feel safe and facilitate fun social activities.
On-Campus Dining
The UNH Dairy Bar, a 3-Star Certified Green restaurant, proves UNH dining is about more than just food. Dining for Wildcats is about celebration, spending time with friends, and producing food in the most sustainable way possible. UNH dining locations range from fast casual options to classic dining halls. As a student, you'll have access to UNH's 10 eateries, a registered dietitian, and options for any dietary need. Highlights include themed dinners, all-day breakfast and locally sourced ingredients. Need to grab a sandwich before running to class? Want to sit down for dinner with friends? Whatever your dietary or lifestyle needs, UNH dining has something for you.
D1 Athletics
We are here at the Whittemore Center Arena, home to UNH Wildcats Hockey. Here, fans come together on game day to cheer on their home team. UNH's 18 Division 1 teams and over 600 student athletes ensure athletics are a high energy experience for both fans and athletes. If you're looking for a school with spirit, you'll find it at UNH. The student group 'Cat Pack Captains instills pride and school spirit in their fellow Wildcats by running cheers during games. UNH student-athletes become professional athletes and compete in the Olympics, so by cheering on your fellow Wildcats you'll become part of something bigger.
Fitness & Club Sports
Hamel Recreation Center is UNH's state-of-the-art recreational facility. With 18,000 square feet of fitness space, there is something for every fitness level. Want to climb an 850-square-foot bouldering wall? Want to meet new friends and stay active through club and intramural sports? You can do all of that here. Hamel features multi-activity courts and studios, an indoor track, and even a demonstration kitchen offering cooking classes. UNH students relax and swim in the outdoor pool. They attend personal training and group exercise classes or customize their own workouts. Hamel Rec has everything you need to support a healthy lifestyle as a college student.

Sustainability
Attending UNH means joining a university that values making the world a better place. UNH's commitment to sustainability includes a food waste prevention program, transportation that primarily runs on alternative, low- or no-emissions fuel, and 3-Star Certified Green dining halls. It's no wonder that UNH is one of the top schools in the country for campus sustainability and a Sierra Club "Cool School." Students here can enroll in UNH's over 500 sustainability-related courses or add one of the country's only dual majors in sustainability. Sustainability-focused student organizations include Slow Food UNH, which preserves local food traditions, and Net Impact UNH, where students work towards a more just and sustainable future.
Research
We are here at the John Olson Advanced Manufacturing Center, which provides students with hands-on, interdisciplinary learning opportunities in a factory environment. UNH students will personally experience the fact that UNH is an R1 research institution, the highest possible Carnegie Classification for university research. At UNH, research is not just reserved for faculty or graduate students. Undergraduates, from first-year students to upperclassmen, participate in exciting research projects. The Hamel Center for Undergraduate Research provides resources and financial support, enabling students to make groundbreaking discoveries and pursue creative projects. Every year, close to 2,000 undergraduates from all academic disciplines present their research at the Undergraduate Research Conference.
Honors and High-Achieving Students
As an honors or high-achieving student at UNH, you'll find countless opportunities to challenge yourself academically. Building on the University Honors Program, the new UNH Hamel Honors and Scholars College stands apart because of its interdisciplinary environment and the many unique pathways honors students take. UNH honors students participate in unparalleled experiential learning opportunities, including research, study abroad and internships. Designated honors living-learning spaces create a community of intellectual curiosity and support, from the residence hall to the classroom. The Hamel Scholars program is a special part of the Honors College for academically-talented New Hampshire students who become leaders in their communities.
Academics - Business & Economics
At the nationally ranked Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics, students thrive through experience-based learning. Starting with the First-year Innovation and Research Experience, they are introduced to college and university life, surrounded by peers, and supported by upperclass advisors. Students gain significant real-world experience in the classroom and through internships, competitions, and client projects with companies such as Microsoft and Fidelity. They build strong resumes by also participating in one or more of 19 industry-related student clubs. Paul is a signatory of the Principles for Responsible Management Education, which means it engages students in leading for a better way of doing business, while improving the world.
Academics - Liberal Arts
We're here at Hamilton Smith Hall, the heart of UNH's College of Liberal Arts, or COLA, where curious, ambitious and creative students learn from award-winning faculty in state-of-the-art facilities. At COLA, small class sizes and one-on-one relationships with faculty are the norm. Opportunities for research and experiential learning abound, such as internships through our Global Racial and Social Inequality Lab, fellowships in our Civil Discourse Lab, study abroad in faculty-led programs, and competition on Mock Trial and Model UN teams. Through this rich learning, COLA students graduate ready to make an impact on the world with skills employers want, setting them up for career success in every field imaginable.
Academics - Life Sciences & Agriculture
At the College of Life Sciences and Agriculture, or COLSA, top-ranked programs and world-class faculty mean students take part in exciting scientific research and high-impact experiential learning. COLSA students board research vessels to study marine life and ecosystems or work on our farms to cultivate heartier and more sustainable crops. They have access to impressive facilities, such as the Hubbard Center for Genome Studies and the New Hampshire Veterinary Diagnostic Lab, as well as a unique variety of local environments, including the Great Bay, College Woods, and the White Mountains. COLSA students share a love of science, while retaining independence to forge their own career paths.
Academics - Engineering & Physical Sciences
Kingsbury Hall is home to The College of Engineering and Physical Sciences, or CEPS. CEPS students study engineering, mathematics, computer science and physical sciences. They immerse themselves in hands-on learning experiences, in laboratories and in a dedicated student project wing. CEPS includes world-class facilities, such as the Olson Manufacturing Center and the Chase Ocean Engineering Building. First-year students explore real-world research opportunities as part of the Innovation Scholars program. These experiences, along with a college-dedicated Career and Professional Success team, create a solid foundation for students to land competitive internships and launch exciting careers.
Academics - Health & Human Services
UNH's College of Health and Human Services, or CHHS, inspires students to become compassionate health and human services leaders. Students practice experiential learning at the Health Sciences Simulation Center, where they gain critical skills in simulation labs that mimic health care settings like hospitals and clinics. The Academic and Career Engagement Program provides first-year students with outstanding career and academic coaching. Rigorous academics, applied learning with real clients, and close faculty-student relationships mean our students graduate prepared to save and improve lives. Student Support Services
UNH supports both students' academic success and mental and physical well-being. You'll feel confident owning your first college paper with help from the Connors Writing Center and discover your learning style at the Center for Academic Resources. When you're ready to apply for your dream job or internship, UNH's career services team will guide you. With four libraries, you'll always find a study spot and research materials. Health and Wellness helps you feel your best, with services from primary care to nutritional coaching. With Psychological and Counseling Services, you'll feel comfortable and supported while managing your mental health. Student Life & Activities
The Memorial Union Building, or MUB, is the hub of student life. Here, you can participate in events like MUBFest, which welcomes new students to campus, catch a concert, or watch a movie in the theater. You can grab a bite to eat or visit the games room to play pool, ping pong or video games. Looking to continue a hobby or try something new? UNH has over 200 student organizations. You can explore getting involved on University Day, an outdoor celebration of student organizations. UNH's Beauregard Center is committed to creating an inclusive, equitable and socially just campus, working with underrepresented and ally students to empower their growth.
Arts & Entertainment
UNH has a vibrant world of arts and entertainment, on and off campus, for both majors and nonmajors. As a student, you can attend a play, musical performance or dance show, or participate in one yourself. Arts and entertainment student organizations range from acapella groups, to orchestra, to the WUNH radio station. The seacoast is home to many art galleries, theaters, and performance venues that are yours to discover. Explore the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, shop local art in Portland, and attend concerts in Portsmouth, all available by train or bus from UNH. The campus also hosts popular artists for a high energy spring concert each year.
Location
We are here in downtown Durham, UNH's hometown. Durham is a friendly and quintessential New England college town. Named one of the safest college towns in America, Durham is where students step off campus to enjoy coffee and food with family and friends. When Wildcats are ready to explore further, there are no limits. Using campus transit, students reach fun coastal towns and beaches. They enjoy dining, shopping and theater in Portsmouth. They even travel by train into Boston to experience historical attractions and catch a Red Sox game. Those who love the outdoors explore UNH's college woods or travel an hour to hike the White Mountains.
Financial Aid & Affordability
Feeling the UNH spirit of community and comfort wherever you grab a seat on campus will tell you that you are home. You can call UNH your home thanks to our many financial aid and scholarship options, including our signature GPA-based merit scholarship program, allowing students and families to predict their baseline award before submitting the Common App. There's also our lifechanging Granite Guarantee, which allows qualified Pell-Eligible New Hampshire students to attend UNH tuition-free. The majority of first-year students receive some combination of scholarships, work study, and aid, helping to lower net costs and put a valuable UNH education within reach.
